The Importance Of Passion

Everyone has passion. Passion lies dormant in us until we tap into the vision energy and it becomes alive. Passion is in each and every one of us… it’s our purpose, our vision, and it is the lifeline of our abilities and talents.

Have you ever wondered why some people just seem to excel in everything they put their hands to? It’s because they have tapped into their inner passion and they have allowed their vision to flow.

Throughout the years I have learned to incorporate this type of passion into every marketing initiative and campaign project that comes in my direction. When you apply passion into your projects, you’ll get an overwhelmingly better outcome.

PASSION IN MARKETING

Some of the most memorable marketing campaigns and slogans such as KFC’s- “Finger lickin’ good”, Apple’s- “Think different”, to Disneyland’s- “The happiest place on earth”, were made famous because those campaigns have passion  poured into them. They exploded because they were relatable with the masses.

EXTERNAL PASSION KILLERS

One of the biggest issues with tapping into true passion is that sometimes people can get distracted because of many external factors.

1. The Fear Factor:

Fear of the unknown is a natural response when it comes to dealing with most new things. It is easier to stay within  comfort zones and only talk about things that we one day hope to achieve, instead of actually bringing them into reality.

This type of thinking creates what I call the ‘cookie cutter mentality’

In marketing, this type of mentality can hamper the true vision that you are trying to get across out of fear that people won’t understand the message you are actually trying to convey.

2. The Procrastination Factor:

Procrastination can be a true passion killer. When we procrastinate we put things off for tomorrow, that we could easily do today. After a time, this habit becomes a redundant cycle and we never fully live into our passion and any creative ideas fall through the cracks.

In marketing, to delay is to miss the mark. There is a time to strike and a time to sit back and observe the chessboard. It’s time to understand and know the difference.

3. The Crab Factor:

This factor’s name comes from the term: ‘Crabs in a barrel’ mentality, whereby crabs that are in a barrel never allow another one to reach the top and climb out. They will always pull the nearby crab down with them. Sometimes we allow other people to talk us out of our passions because it doesn’t fit into anything they can actually perceive. Many ideas get cast aside because people have allowed the thoughts and comments of others to kill them.

IN CONCLUSION

Never be afraid to go after your dreams… No matter how outlandish or insignificant others may think they are. Always be prepared to follow your passion and be willing to think outside of the box. Your passion will pay off in the end, and the rewards will be plentiful.  Be mindful of your colleagues and competitors. never take the easy way out and never follow the crowd. Blaze your own trail. The unique concept that shines above the rest will always garner the right attention and it will find its rightful place in the spotlight.
